Round Avatar and Sig Theme

Postby wacoede » Mon Apr 21, 2008 1:53 am

Here's a sig and avatar theme I designed for Roster 2 and siggen (even though the attached images show a background these have a transparent background as can be seen from my current sig and avatar)

whats included:
  1. 2 border colours, red and blue (sig and avatar)
  2. backgrounds for the avatar and sig
  3. a frame
  4. the start set of character pics already rounded off (I'll work on the tier 3 ones next) the char.inc file is there so it will pick the right character once data is uploaded
  5. and the settings files for both sigs and avatars
    [/list:o]

Also included is the mask layer I used and I'll attempt to tell you how to edit your character pics for use with this theme

Everything I detail here is for Adobe Photoshop as that's what I use

    1. open up the AVA-Template-Mask.png
    2. open the character portrait you want to edit (i'll assume you know how to get rid of any background in the image)
    3. copy the character portrait to the mask file as a new layer (and resize/move as needed)
    4. reorder the mask layer to the top of the layers list
    5. open the blending options for the mask
      • set the fill opacity to 0%
      • set knockout to deep

[*]save resulting image for Web & Devices ( I'd highly recommend using the PNG format as siggen seams to have problems with GIF's and transparency)
[/list:o]

now you should have a rounded of pic of your character for use with this theme

Enjoy 8)

yeah I had most of it worked out I just needed to complete the red border I'm honestly thinking of redoing the blue border with what I learned from doing the red border if i do I'll update it here and add a updater file pack (smaller in size and all)

Yeah, too bad the transparency can't overlay on top of other images, masking it off

Yep, but I think this is a GD issue
I do have some code that will take the top left pixel color, and set that as transparent, that is for SigGen 1.0 though

by the way
any chance of a smaller version?
the smallest i can seem to get it to scale is arround 400 x 85
any chance you could do something like this?
because although i love the sigs, they are slightly on the large size?
i dont mind rescaling my images to fit by the way.

what size are we talking here? it will mean a lot of work due to the char images (different radius means different curve) if you're willing to do the char images i can resize it to just about anything

Round Avatar and Sig Theme

Postby sneekygit » Fri Apr 25, 2008 10:07 pm

im willing to do the images
what im looking for is something similar to the default siggen image
but with avatars as well
say for example
avatar = 95x95
sig = 450 x 95

i just thought it would be a good idea for those users running at a lower res

well I started on this and I've gotten it to 400 x 98 for sigs and avatars are 98 x 98

that ok?

oh and I was able to get the start pack done as well so that's one less job :D (all the layers were still in the original template file)

The reason I made them so big is because I suffer from a visual impairment so I have a hard time reading small text so I made a sig that I could read

i completely understand, i too have disabilities, those sizes sound fine to me, and im glad you managed to get the starter pack included too, means users can use the smaller version while i work on the images, feel free to post a resized version when your finished, and i will start on the tier 5 image pack, should take me a couple of days, i think i will do the square ones at the same time for the standard siggen users as well this time, thanks again for all your effort, i love these sigs.

i should have time to start work on them early next week, with a target completion time of around 2-3 days
i will be doing the square images as well for the default sig-gen
including settings files etc.

Round Avatar and Sig Theme

Postby Arkel » Sat Apr 26, 2008 9:09 pm

Got a question for you wacoede. Would you mind if we just used the character part of your graphics for Tier 5 to put into a square ava & sig? While I do like the rounded most of the website that I goto state the ava is way to big and only allow 100x 85 max. I did use just the human warlock one to show how it would look.

well I don't produce the tier 5 images so I cant say either way on those

I'm working on a smaller avatar but today has not been too productive the dimensions of the smaller version will be 98x98 its the smallest I could make it without making it look really bad

if your the admin of your site I'm sure up'ing the width to 100 wont hurt to much
