Your site is very fast - Who is your Host?

Postby Bedevere » Sun Sep 03, 2006 6:23 pm

Hi guys I am using Go-Daddy as a host for my Dragonfly site and I have to say their SQL access is so slow it kills the speed of my site. Who is your host? I would consider moving my site based upon your performance.

I rent this dedicated server for $130 / month from FDC Servers.

http://www.fdcservers.com/

another good one is

http://v2.hivelocity.net/

This is if your willing to splurge that extra... hundred dollars or more a month.

I didn't buy the godaddy thing - it was the group leader who did it. I find my server hosted on a computer in my house and seviced via my cable connection is faster. Its pathetic.

Yeah I am sure an extra $100 a month can get me better access, lol!

Bedevere,

I am using LunarPages.com shared hosting for 3 separate sites, and they are all very fast. I pay roughly 89.00/year, and they have a "Domain Name for Life" program that pays for your yearly Domain Name fee as long as you use them as your Host. They also have very good customer service, at least with my experience.

I've heard other good things about LunarPages.com too.

<--- DreamHost. Here recently they've had problems because of the California power issues, but I've been hosting w/ them for several years now and am still a satisfied customer. Their servers are fast and you get a lot of "bang for your buck".

I use to use a different host at one time and it was fast but randomly became slow at times... i recently switched to 1and1 and ive found them to be extremely reliable and reasonably fast at a GREAT price IMO :)

From past experience, Rackspace.com has been one of the better hosting providers (but you pay the price for this). I use dreamhost now. It's mostly good, but there are times when the shared servers get overloaded and things get slow.

I only paid $7.77 for a year's hosting last year (with the renewal this year being $130), so I can't complain much.

I'm currently hosted with 1and1.com and they've been great, fast, and reliable. However, they only support MySQL 4.0.x and with the new release of WoW Roster requiring 4.1.x I can not upgrade, so I am now in search of a new host.

I tried getting 1and1 to upgrade mysql to 4.1 and I got a generic "sorry we can't do that at this time" type of response. I moved my roster site to bluehost and so far I've been very pleased with them.

The price is decent and the service has been top notch. Any time I had a question I got an answer back within 15 minutes.
