Backin up data

Postby thom_raindog » Sun Oct 22, 2006 8:06 pm

Hi folks.

I would like to upgrade to the 1.7.1 version.
But being a careful person I would rather backup my database (as the install.txt recommends).

My problem: Which file(s) do I need to back up??
I am indeed confused about this..

Noone? I know this appears to be a really silly / stupid question, but that should not mean noone bothers to answer?
Please, someone stoop dpwn to send me the one-liner I need :)

With phpmyadmin this will allow you to export the rosters db to a .sql file that can be imported if there are any issues.

That won't help me, it seems.
I am obviously not smart enough to use phpadmin, or (more likely) don't know enough about php and stuff.. I don't even know which dir is my "document root"..
If at all possible, scre phpadmin.. can't someone just give me a list of files tha I need to copy byck to my local machine and be done with it?

I am tempted to just update without backup, but something's telling me that when I come back to whine and gripe and curse after ruining my roster you won't like it much.. ;)

Backin up data

If this isn't your server, there are no user accessible file that you could even touch to back up the database

This is why you need a mysql management tool

You might find such a tool in you web hosts' control panel
