Life Changes

Postby mrmuskrat » Wed Nov 15, 2006 1:14 am

I've got a lot going on in my life right now. I haven't been playing WoW nor working on PvPLog. With the way things are going, I don't know if or when I'll be able to get back into doing either. :cry:

The thought of quiting WoW altogether is actually looking better with each passing day. After all, why should I continue to spend money on something that I'm not using?

I haven't been the maintainer of PvPLog for long but it's been a fun ride. It's a cool addon but it needs some tender, loving care especially with the changes that are coming in January. So is there anyone out there who'd like to take over for me?

Requirements:
1. You already use and love PvPLog. :D
2. You know how to program in at least one structured language.

Nice to have:
3. You already know or are at least familiar with Lua.
4. You already know how to code WoW addons.

Looks like this is a scary time to make this post...

When PvPLog appeared to be dead (i.e. when Josh Estelle quit working on it around version 0.4.6 in 2005-04-27) I started maintaining it and modifying it for myself and some of my guildmates.

I've made the following changes to the 0.4.6 code base:

Author: Brad Morgan
Version: 0.5.3

CHANGES
2006-10-24 * Version 0.5.3
* Fixed reporting when guild or rank is blank.

2006-06-04 * Version 0.5.2
* Added /pvplog listrealm <n>[m|h|d|v].

2006-06-04 * Version 0.5.1
* Fixed reporting of no PvP rank.

2006-05-24 * Version 0.5.0
* Fixed reporting of a [0,0] location
* Adjusted default notify strings

2006-05-18 * Version 0.4.9
* Added %t (PvP Rank) to custom notification text

2006-01-04 * Version 0.4.8
* Added /pvplog record nobg with the ability
to concatenate values (i.e. noduelnobg)
* Added optional level to /pvplog listall <level>
* Added /pvplog listsince <n>[m|h|d|w]

2005-12-24 * Version 0.4.7
* Added %s (subzone) to custom notification text
* Added %m (minimapzone) to custom notification text
* Added /pvplog record always | nokill | noduel | never
* Added local and say as special channel names
* Added single digit channel names
( 3 = LocalDefense, 5 = WorldDefense )
* Added the ability for channel to be a list
( "channel,channel,..." )

Some of these changes have already been made on the version that's being hosted here as well as many others. I was going to contact the current author and see if he wanted my changes to incorporate into this version, but I see the current author is looking for a replacement!

I guess I meet the qualifications so if you want me, I'll volunteer.

Regards,

Brad

For some reason the forum notifications have stopped working for me so I just saw this today. I am not sure which of your changes are still in there since others worked on it before me. Brad, I'm more than happy to turn her back over to you.

So I guess I'm "volunteered"!

I'm working on getting SVN access. Are the current sources in the SVN library? Do I need moderator privs on this forum?

None of my "changes" are in the current version because we both started working independently around the 0.4.6 timeframe. I'll figure out if I did anything brilliant and if so, merge it in after I get my feet wet.

WoW version 2.0 will keep us all hopping for a while.

Regards,

Brad

I had the sources in my svn repository here at home. I never asked about access to the wowroster.net repo. The latest is what is available for download here.
