Ok im a little new to the web hosting and what not so be very simple when instructing me :P

Im a little confused on to how i install the roster, what ive done so far:

connected to my control panel at my doman, ive created an SQL database. I then opened my file manager from my control panel on my site and started to upload the files from the extracted roster folder on my computer just as I see them. (I ve created a folder in my file manager called roster, then inside that I have admin, and css and all that). Then i hit the img folder and saw that there r like 1000s of files there, I can open upload one at at time? Is this usual or am i doing something wrong.

Use an FTP program to upload files as you can queue many files to be uploaded such as SmartFTP for flashfxp or many, many others
You can get a ftp user:password from your control panel

ok i got alot farther in my installtion, what ive done now is:

Uploaded all the files except the img files

Ive gotten threw step 1, 2, 3, 4, i download the conf.php file and install it into my file manager. I then click go to roster config and it brings up an error saying that:
Access Denied user "my user name" to server Roster

so i thought all my things were wrong, and after about 2 hours of trial and error i got a new error saying:

Cannot get roster configuration from database
MySQL Said: 1146: Table 'gnomelan_Roster.roster_config' doesn't exist

You might not have roster installed
INSTALL

i click install and it brings me to a screen saying that i have roster installed, and to delete some files, I delete them and then i get the same error and when i click install it says that the url cannot be found. Which is obvious because i deleted those files. I then reinstall it all after deleting the conf.php file, going through step 1-4 and again i come to the problem at the top where it says my server is dening me. I really really want to set this up, is there anyway you can help me out for 5-10 minutes to get this up and running. Ive tried everything and im at my wits end! please post anything that you think can help....

my server details are for sure ok, cause i connect to my sql server with them threw my control panel.... ill be watching this thread so as soon as u respond, hang around cause ill answer it right away

Seems like you may have input the wrong database name during the install
I'm guessing you entered "Roster" for the database name correct?

Most webhosts append your username before the name you made for the database
Try using "gnomelan_Roster" next time you try to install

Also, check out the re-install instructions on the wiki

You don't
The settings are global

The only things that can be different for each player is the character portrait and the background, and the roster admin has to upload those
SigGen is this way because Roster doesn't have user auth
