Hi, I just added a field to the roster_members table, but I was wondering is the member_id is fixed as long as a member doesn't leave and rejoin guild. I am under the impression it might 'shift' when uploading a frensh log.

You are correct
Unless they leave and re-join, it will stay the same

Starting with Roster 1.8, they will always have the same number unless you manually purge them from the Roster
