I'm in the process of taking over development of PvPLog. I'll be working on a 2.0 version in the next few days and hopefully will have the ability to distribute it in the same timeframe.

For those of you eagerly awaiting a version of PvPLog for version 2 I have some really bad news...

While I was able to get PvPLog to load on 2.0.1 it will not work. Addons can no longer use any of the targeting calls that were the very heart and soul of PvPLog. Without being able to target, PvPLog can't gather all the information it needed to build a database.

I am not declaring defeat but this is a major setback. It will take me a while to figure out if there's any replacements for the missing functionality or if I can come up with a restricted version that requires human targeting.

Sorry,

Brad

patch 2.0 and pvplog

Postby darksquall » Mon Dec 11, 2006 4:52 am

Bon jour a tous

patch 2.0 and pvplog

Can we rely on informations in combat log only ?

Or catch informations when enemy is targeted, store it in memory for using it when the player or the enemy dies ?

Brad

Might I suggest this add-on for ideas on how to handle an updated PvPLog to take a look at the add-on called Radar, which shows nearby horde/alliance players (depending on your faction of course)

http://wow.curse-gaming.com/en/files/de ... ar-berean/

Make note of the comments below, especially the one by karrd (4th comment down).

Also you may have a look at Titan Aggro (or other aggro mods), aswell:

Hoping for an update soon, as I'm not PvP'ing till this add-on is available once again :D

Thank you everyone for the support and pointers. I'm researching all of them along with some of my own ideas.

The way PvPLog used to work was that it picked up enemies that were doing you damage from the combat log and then it targeted them automatically to gather information on them like their race, class, level, guild, rank, etc.

Automatic targeting has been eliminated in the latest version of WoW (2.0.1+). Also major restrictions exist when you are in combat. What's missing is a function to gather information on a name without targeting them that can be called in combat.

I'll keep researching because I also want to get this working again! Its just going to take some time.

Regards,

Brad

patch 2.0 and pvplog

Postby gorgeth » Fri Dec 15, 2006 8:36 am

We never needed THAT autotarget bit.. all we really need is to cap the info when the player does the manual targeting

Over time serious pvp players will have targeted most if not all enemies that have done damage to them.. sure it won't be as fast but it will work.

I was able to get pvplog to work somewhat.

If you change the pvplog.toc to 20000 instead of 11200 it will be 'compatible' and this is what happened during my testing...

You are unable to move the pvplog minimap button: you get this error:

modsettings myminimapbutton.lua 260

And then the targeting error when you die:
target by name pvplog.lua 284

Those are the only two errors that I experienced.

The menu functioned perfectly. Including sending text to the right channel to display kills / deaths.

Kills were saved but deaths were not due to the 'target by name' error.

I was able to successfully upload my stats to my guild's roster, again, only kills were recorded, not deaths.

If I find anything else, I'll let you know but I'm sure you were already aware of this.
