update.php delets itself after every use 1.7.2

PHP Version: 4.3.9
MYSQL Version: 4.1.20

Summary,
update.php deletes itself after every use

The whole story,
After a fresh install of 1.7.2 I configure the roster update it then...
When I goto update profile I get page can't be displayed. The link refers to the file update.php I notice it didnt exist I copied it back in then was able to update the roster again once.....then the file deleted itself again.

Any Ideas?

First thing I would do is make sure nothing in that dir has permission to delete anything IN that dir. From what I can tell with my limited PHP experience (well, and from the install.txt intsructions =), the .php files should only have read/execute permission, not modify/write/delete.

Just a thought.

I will try removing the write permissions from the php files. Unfortunatly I cant test it until this evening.

It seems my host does not allow me to set file permissions.

This was not a problem with version 1.7.1

any other suggestions?

update.php is still deleting itself after every upload.

Maybe your host is detecting the file as "bad", maybe because how it is named or it detects lots of traffic to the page and so deletes it in some sort of "security" procedure.
