If your using phpBB auth, currently i dont think there is support for an "admin" account. From what ive gathered, your Roster password must = your PhPBB password.

The reason i say this is that to supply Roster with the phpBB username and passwords, the variables are: -
username - your forum login name
password - your forum login password.

There dosnt seem to be any differance between the (now old) roster_Update_password and the current password variable.

Correct me if im wrong, but in roster 1.6 i thought u could specify 2 permissions, 1 containing a list of groups who have access to uploading profiles, the other a list of groups who have access to updating the guild roster. This feature seems to have been removed in 1.7 (if it hasnt, its not in the web config but in the server files).

If it has been removed, or was wrong about it being in 1.6, can the dev's think about implementing what i described, seems alot neater than how i think its working.

hope this helps

Well, someone posted a really ingenious idea to modify the phpBB auth

But we lost it...

However, I did make a post a topic in the forum "Roster > General Support & Feedback"
Called "Request for Modified phpBB Auth"

Hopefully the person who posted it last time can post it again

That's unfair - backups like the ones required here are not a s simple as stuffing a disc in a drive somewhere - especially on such a high volume site as this one. Oftem the only efficient way of doing it involves work at the server, and as such usually costs more than can afford to pay as a private individual.

What would be fairer would be asking how far the negotiations with the host have got regarding the prevention of future attacks of this nature, and enquiring again at the host if they have a relatively recent backup of their own

I use normal roster login.
Under options in uniuploader i have set "password" "mypass" and i'ts marked.

But no upload of the guilddata.

I am using the german version of the rooster. Maybe that could be the clue... :/

my roster version is 1.6

stygy, i'm sorry but nothing comes to mind.

try making a new file, calling it phpinfo.php and pointing UU to it as the main upload URL

then going to the server response tab and hitting the E button

For 1.6 you had to have an entry for roster_password and the roster update password in it. 1.7 changed it to just password for the HTTP variable name.

in 1.6 the variable is "roster_update_password" not "password", correct me if wrong.

The value in this field is the password you use to log into the config page of roster.

That's unfair - backups like the ones required here are not a s simple as stuffing a disc in a drive somewhere - especially on such a high volume site as this one. Oftem the only efficient way of doing it involves work at the server, and as such usually costs more than can afford to pay as a private individual.

Not sure about this software of forum, but i use phpBb on my site, that has a default method of backing up the database. Just clicking the backup button will backup the database to a .sql file u can download. However file attachments arnt supported and you have to FTP into the site and download the folder, or u can add a mod that will zip all attached files.

I wasnt sure how the last site (pre-hack) was written, but if it was all supported by forum, the majority of data sould be recovered.

Ive also managed to recover my site after a crash from just a phpMyAdmin backup ^^

Then again, im not a dev and dont know your web setup. but i know that phpBB and Ikonboad forums have nice backup features for data (posts members etc), and i have never owned a site with such a high volume of data.

Good luck with restoring data btw
