Noob DF ?: Deleting Users?

Postby scapegoat » Wed Feb 28, 2007 3:34 am

Not that long ago I made the switch from phpNuke to Dragonfly, and so far, I'm pretty stoked about the upgrade, but this one is buggin me. I checked on dragonflycms.org but only got pointed to a seperate addon.

Is there a way to Delete users from DF?

In phpNuke, you could delete a member, and it would remove their account from the system, and would also leave their forum posts, though it would change the color of their name, so it was no longer an active link.

Can this be done DF, or do I need to do something separate? I want a good way to remove users from the site as they leave the guild.

Thanks for the non supported support =)

DF complies to EU standards about some nonsense about user accounts not being totally removed. Or at least that's what I think is why there is no "Delete User" option.

Go to http://www.dragonflycms.org/ and look/ask there.

Noob DF ?: Deleting Users?

After some quick searching on DragonflyCMS.org I found this.

Members Delete Module
It Deletes all personal user details.
    It Deletes the users signature.
It renames the user account to 'Deleted_User_' plus the user ID (eg Deleted_User_342)
It deletes all PM's to and from this user.
It offers the chance to add the username to the Disallowed Username list.
It lists a count of the deleted users.
It lists the deleted users on the Members admin page.
Deleted users do not count towards the user totals.
    Deletes uploaded avatars
    Complies with EU directive 95/46/CE

Version 1.1 is not compatible with DF 9.0.6.1 or below and administrators on these versions should continue to use version 1.0 which remains available here.

After some more searching the reason why you can't delete users is that some modules store independent user tables (i.e. Coppermine). After deleting the user it would sometimes break the site.

The module I listed above renames the user and removes all the account info but if the user id is linked to other modules tables it will still work and not break anything.

If you read that thread a little it explains more. This is probably true for all CMS's.

When using this that module you will have to suspend the user before you can delete them.
