1286 : gzopen error?

Hi,

I tried to install the beta2 and I get the following error when I try to upload characterprofiler.lua :

Fatal error: Call to undefined function gzopen() in /home/web/clients/sanspeursansmur.hostarea.org/www/Roster2/lib/luaparser.php on line 111

I have probably made something wrong for I'm not used with web sites requirements and this seems to be a well documented php function (and it also happens that I miss something in english^^)...

Roster has always used this function, have you used previous versions of Roster before?

Not quite true. In previous versions of roster, this module was required when using the UU gzipped upload, but not on normal uploads. However, this module is enabled on the windows binaries for php, and many linux binary distributions have it enabled as well.

Yes, I tried the 1.7.3 previously. but as said PleegWat, (I checked in the 1.7.3 file before posting...) this function wasn't called in normal case and I had no issue... I just wanted to check the new beta as it was released and I would like to use the V2 after that...

my host shall run an old distribution if I'm not completly mad^^

Edit... after some further checking : zlib is disabled by my host... I'll have to find another one I think...

The simple fix is to open luaparser.php and make the following substitutions:

gzopen => fopen
gzgets => fgets
gzeof => feof

This will remove support for gzipped uploads, but normal ones should work fine.

Please report back if it works, and what errors you get.

We could probably test for zlib and switch to fopen if it isn't available

ok, I tested the correction with fopen, feof, fgets (and fclose^^) and I can then upload normally...

thank you, I'll try to test it further once I have reinstalled the 1.7.3 : my previous host was still more limited than this one. I just wanted to test the beta version before re-installing it completely but I'm sure you have more constructive beta testers than me for I know very few about php...
