A dirty hack feature...

Postby Subxero » Fri Sep 07, 2007 6:12 pm

Hi there,

I don't known if I saying a barbarity but at moment, We still using wowroster 1.7.3 until 2.0 goes out from beta stage and some magnificent addons will be adapted to roster 2.x (syggen, resist, reputation, etc)

At moment all members of guild still using wowroster 1.73 upload and only someone use both updates.

Now the real question!

There are possibility that at same time that one person upload his CharacterProfiler.lua to wowroster 1.7.3 inject the same file to wowroster 2.x upload ?

Yes, people are very vague.. and 2 clicks more its to much work to do it.

Sure there aren't a possibility to link both uploads in one ? because use the same file.. only need be parse separately.

Thanks for your time, Best Regards and GREAT JOB!

I can't think of a way to do this without very complex code

The best way to do this is have everyone use UU and set an additional url for UU to upload to

A possibility would be to use a proxy webapp that receives the upload and then re-submits it to the two wowroster update URL's (ie. acting as a web client).

You could rename the existing update.php to update-old.php, then put your new proxy in the place of update.php, so that users don't even need to change their uploader configuration.

Turns out that PHP can use libcurl to act like a web client:

http://us2.php.net/curl

You can then adapt my upload script, rewriting it in PHP and accepting as the file to upload data collected via POST.

This is what programmers call a "SMOP". ;)
