I have been following the Integration guide for Joomla, WoWRoster and phpBB. Everything is fine but now I need to install the phpBB component, the links in the integration post do not work anymore and when I use google search I come up with a lot of results in other languages with no possbility of downloading the required file.

Do I need to find an upgraded component to use? If so which one?

The are both modules and will not require you to mod any core files in phpbb.

The second one is being developed for phpbb3 but I currently use the first one for phpbb2 but they will have a updated version for phpbb3 when it comes out.

Note for CB connector you must also have community builder mod installed also, cause you have to install the plugin thru there installer.
