SigGen - displaying rewritten url

Postby Wyren » Thu Nov 01, 2007 3:57 pm

I've used mod_rewrite to change the url for the signatures and avatars so that they can be used in phpbb, but when users click on the Siggen config on the roster, that will display the "normal" url.
It'd be ace if we could have an option to display the modified url (option setting in control panel perhaps?), so that the phpbb-compatible url is displayed.

SigGen - displaying rewritten url

On a related note, it might be nice if the URL could display the path to saved images, if the "save images to server" option has been selected.

Question :

This
http://www.papy-team.fr/roster/index.php?p=util-siggen-signature&a=c:45
works.

But what when one blows up his roster... (you know, this happens  ).

A small up with the latest version.
Table wipe.
Up CP.lua in admin mode.

We wind up with members having other numbers.
All those signature have to be changed everywhere - where they are used - like overhere on WoWRoster.net
Everybody that uses signatures from SigGen is risking to have another person is his signature in the future.

I'll better stick to the
http://www.papy-team.fr/roster/index.php?p=util-siggen-signature&member=Nowwhat@EU-Khaz Modan

mode.

Is this method being abandoned?
Linking directely to the saved images would not be of any help.
Now image are being saved like 58.png - so this would help neither.

siggen.php is accepting anymore the &member parameter.
&a=c:xx rules now.

I understand WHY referencing by number was being asked - and I still second that question (see up) - because for many among us the fight between character sets and all this related stuff is hard to understand.
(Although, using a French roster, so I know the drill - and it isn't that difficult manage - for me)
But it would be nice if SigGen could use the two methodes.
With a default one if &a=c:xx and &member=name@XX-realm is present on the command line.

Zanix must be yelling right now

The Roster anchor still accepts Charname@RC-Realm
So you can still use
http://www.papy-team.fr/roster/index.php?p=util-siggen-signature&a=c:Nowwhat@EU-Khaz Modan

Thanks so much for the 'heads up', I had created a default signature "hack" using the SigGen sigs for specific usergroups on our vB forums and was afraid it was no longer going to work without major tweaking. You just saved me a lot of frustration. :D

SigGen - displaying rewritten url

Postby PleegWat » Sun Dec 02, 2007 9:23 pm

I'd suggest have member= override a=, if both are given, but keep supporting a= for easier internal crosslinking.
Oh, and definitely name@region-server.png saves for the reasons given.

That's what I think is also the best solution.
Having siggen.php use the &member=x@y - if't its not there (or cannot be found because accents) have it fall back to a=c:XX (XX being name @ name - or- last ressort, a number).

This seems to be complicated, but covers all knows questions/issues.

The guy whos gona write the Wiki about this one needs some good coffee before he starts.
