Postby gokoulv4gt » Fri Nov 30, 2007 5:57 am

Wow roster is a nice program but i dont have a guild. I just want to display a nice character profile or my character and maybe some friends on my website. I have seen sites use something that looks simular to the character profile box on the game but i cant figure out how there doing it. I know there are supposed to be prasers for the characterprofiler.lua file but i cant get any of those to work either. can anyone help me with a solution??? thanks

Help with character profiler

You need to at the very least set up who can upload, under Upload Rules - but "roster" should indicate that it's mainly made for a guild roster I think.

I don't know if it's possible, but you can under Guild in Upload Rules set it to access Name: *, Server: [whateverserveryou'reon], Region: [EU/US]

Then define the users you want to allow under Character - else set it to Name: * as well.

But I'm really unsure whether it'll eat a wildcard under Guild Name.

Actually the wildcard in the upload rules is % not *

If you only want to allow specific characters, fill them in on the character box. There is no need to specify anything in the guild box for that case.

If there is no guild data for a character, however, the character will show up as being guildless. This is a design decision.

Well, I read your question.
Its clear that the guys that posted afterwards are answering it.

Really : you should read the Wiki - you'll see quickly if it fits your needs - and some main topics of your interest in the forum.
Roster V2 1.9.9.1846 is in Beta Pre-release phase and not a set it and forget tool.

If you have installed a copie of the roster at "your place", the go into the admin mode : Utilities -> PC Roster and enter your admin password.
Then click on the right on Upload Rules.
To the left you'll find a box named Menu.
It's in Guild mode 'the default' one.
Click on Character mode.

Now you can enter what's being told above and try that out.

Exemple, if your char ius named MisterXIG, and your realm is an US server called OneStrike, then your Char is being called MisterX@US-OneStrike

Or you can toy with %@US-OneStrike to admit only char from that Realm (like a wildcard).

Btw : before some one asks : Yes, I'm in a good mood today ^^

In 1.7.3, only single-guild configurations are possible. For multiguild or per-character setups, you need the v2 beta.

Help with character profiler

Postby gokoulv4gt » Mon Dec 03, 2007 11:37 pm

i got it installed and running thanks for the help. I do have one issue which i think is an issue with my host. it worked fine at home on my pc then i uploaded everything to me server. I didnt go though the installer because it wouldnt install because my mysql is a lower version than recommended. I cnat change that since i host with a hosting company. I uploaded the databse manaually and changed the database conection strings. it works but when i try to log into admin i get Invalid page specified or insufficient credentials to access this page. I think this might be because the older versions of mysql use different ways to access password, i donno.

I don't recommend doing that. The installer does more than add the database files, there's also some user prompted stuff in there (like the password).

Also, the mysql version requirement is there for a reason. We really do use sql constructs that do not work below mysql 4.1

Help with character profiler

For what it's worth, I stumbled through getting this set up for myself as a private roster (to be able to play with / manage alts out-of-game).

The one thing that took me a while to figure out, and ended up making the application run perfectly w/o any guilded toons involved, was to set the Default guild to "Guildless-A" with the appropriate realm and region.

Without that, I would consistently receive the error message telling me to "load my guild, or finish configuration" (...the only way to get around it was to use the search feature).

After setting the default guild to "Guildless-A", the application is now working flawlessly for group of unguilded toons.

I'd imagine for Horde players that'd be Guildless-H.
