CHMOD and webhost problems/questions

Postby sysaphys » Mon Jan 05, 2009 7:26 am

Good evening all. I currently do not have root access to my webserver. I uploaded the roster folder to my webserver via FTP and when i tried to run the installer it pretty much failed. Actually it didn't do much of anything.

I have limited knowledge when it comes to these things and I am going to assume the issue i am encountering is due to file attribute permissions (chmod)

Do I have to go in and manually chmod all the *.PHP files and if so what files and what permisions? there are lots!
Am i off base here and is the error is something else?
I use 1 and 1 hosting if that helps.

If you upload files via ftp, generally the chmod will be set correctly on the roster files

The only files/folders that you should worry about chmod'ing are
cache/
conf.php

Also, what exact error are you seeing?
It might be something we know how to fix

Also some hosts disable php if running in cgi mode to save cpu cycles which in that case you should then have the option to enable it via your hosts control panel. If this is the case the hosts may also allow you to use php4 and or 5 also via a switch in most cases in the control panel I suggest if you can to use php5.

Well it looks like deleting the .htaccess file did the trick.

If you read the instructions, you don't go to install.php, you go to index.php
