Roster First Upload Guide

This guide assumes you have Roster installed

Set Up Roster

• Go to RosterCP (roster/?p=rostercp | roster/rostercp.html) then to Upload Rules

  View Upload Rules for information on adding rules

• Enter your server name and guild name EXACTLY like they are spelled in-game

  If the case or spelling is wrong, WoWRoster will refuse the upload

Tips

• Make absolutely sure you have your server and guild name entered in RosterCP

  Try copying your guild and server name directly from CharacterProfiler.lua

  This is especially important if you have characters in the names with accent marks

  Also, all names are case sensitive. "Feathermoon" is not the same as "feathermoon"

• WoWRoster is made and tested for use with official Blizzard servers. WoWRoster.net does not support WoWRoster for use on private servers

CP, GP, and WoW

This is a quick guide on how to gather data in WoW
There is more detailed info on the use of CharacterProfiler and GuildProfiler to gather data in WoW on the Updating Character and Guild Data to Roster page.

• Install the necessary Addons (CharacterProfiler & GuildProfiler)
• Start WoW, log into your account, and check whether the above AddOns were correctly installed (Addons Button in the character select screen)
• Log in into a character for your guild, this can be any character but it is preferred that the character can read all the guild data, such as notes, ranks, guild info, guild motd, etc...
• Open the Guild window, near the top left, there should be a Save button. If you press this, you will get a message in the chat window of when the guild was created and how many members are in the guild.
• Open the character window. There is also a save button here near the top left corner. Clicking this button also displays a message in the chat window about what has been and has not been scanned.
• Log out, or exit WoW

Upload To Roster

• In the Roster menu, click the Update Profile button
• Click the browse button next to characterprofiler.lua, browse for your CharacterProfiler.lua data file
  • This file is located at (*WoWDir*/WTF/Account/*ACCOUNTNAME*/SavedVariables/CharacterProfiler.lua)
  • This file IS NOT at (*WoWDir*/WTF/Account/*ACCOUNTNAME*/*REALMNAME*/*CHARNAME*/CharacterProfiler.lua)
    • There should be no file here
  • This file IS NOT at (*WoWDir*/Interface/AddOns/CharacterProfiler/CharacterProfiler.lua)
    • This is the addon code, not the data
• Enter Roster Admin password in the "GuildProfiler User Only" box, next to "Roster Update Password"
• Click on the Upload button
• A window should come up afer a while (it depends on how big your CP.lua file is)
• This window give an overview of members added, updated, and removed. It also gives an update summary of each character as well.

Troubleshooting

Here are some common errors that the upload page may display

Addon Error:

The addon [ADDON] has been disabled because it needs to be upgraded

• Explanation:

  An AddOn needs to be upgraded

  You have uploaded an updated version of an addon that needs to be upgraded

  Non-Upgraded addons that process data during an lua update will not function or process information correctly

• Solution:

  Go to RosterCP -> Manage AddOns

  Run the upgrade process for the addon that needs to be upgraded

Addon Error:

Failed to load update trigger for ADDON: Update class did not exist

• Explanation:

  The update hook file exists for the addon, but the proper update class does not exists

• Solution:

  Contact the author of the addon for an updated version

Message:

Invalid realm. You are not playing on an official realm, and your realm setup is incompatible with roster. Good luck fixing it up. I'm adding this message cause I'm getting annoyed by the occasional person who can't get roster to work on his private server

• Explanation:

  You are using WoWRoster with a non-official Blizzard server

• Solution:

  I'm afraid that is up to you...

Message:

Character/Guild NAME @ RC-Realm not accepted

• Explanation:

  The Character/Guild was not accepted and is not updated in WoWRoster

• Solution:

  Add the character or guild to the allowed list in RosterCP -> Upload Rules

Message:

NOT Updating Guild List for NAME. Guild profile is too old

• Explanation:

  The time the guild data was taken is before the time stored in WoWRoster

• Solution:

  Make sure your system clock is correct on your Operating System

  Re-Scan your guild

  Try the upload again

  If this fails, have the WoWRoster Admin delete the guild data in WoWRoster

  This will delete EVERY character upload as well, proceed with caution

Message:

NOT Updating Character NAME. Profile is too old

• Explanation:

  The time the character data was taken is before the time stored in WoWRoster

• Solution:

  Make sure your system clock is correct on your Operating System

  Re-Scan your character

  Try the upload again

  If this fails, have the WoWRoster Admin delete your character data in WoWRoster

Message:

NOT Updating CharacterProfiler for [NAME] - X.X.X The version of CharacterProfiler used to capture data for this character is older than the minimum version allowed for upload. Please ensure you are running at least vX.X.X and have logged onto this character and saved data using this version.

Message:

NOT Updating GuildProfiler for [NAME] - X.X.X The version of GuildProfiler used to capture data for this guild is older than the minimum version allowed for upload. Please ensure you are running at least vX.X.X

• Explanation:

  You are using an old version of CharacterProfiler/GuildProfiler

  The version of CharacterProfiler/GuildProfiler used to scan the character/guild is older than what is specified in RosterCP

• Solution:

  Update CP/GP to the latest version http://www.wowroster.net/Downloads/c=3.html

  If you have the latest versions, and you still have this error, try re-scanning your guild again

  If that doesn't work, try deleting your CP.lua file and re-scan again

  If that fails, then ["GPversion"] or ["CPversion"] isn't being set in the data file, there may be another addon interfering with CP or GP. Disable all other addons and re-scan again.

Message:

NOT Updating Guild list for GUILDNAME Data does not contain any guild members

• Explanation:

  This means your CP.lua file doesn't contain a members list

  Something may have went wrong when saving the guild list in-game

• Solution:

  Open WoW, save the guild list again, re-upload

  If it fails again, try deleting your CP.lua file and try to re-scan

  If that doesn't work, make absolutely sure you have the latest version of CharacterProfiler and GuildProfiler

Message:

Could not find Guild. GuildProfiler Addon not installed correctly?

• Explanation:

  Roster cannot find the ["Guild"] block in CP.lua

  You may not have GuildProfiler installed

• Solution:

  Install the latest version of GuildProfiler http://www.wowroster.net/Downloads/c=3.html

  Check the addon page on the character select window in WoW

  You can also type /gp in WoW and make sure "Type /help blah blah blah..." doesn't show
